i-Chips Technology, Inc. is a fabless semiconductor company specializing in the design and manufacture of highly-integrated image and video processors. The Company was founded in 2000, from the sale of the Sumitomo Metals LSI Division to Photron, Inc. Sumitomo Metals already had an in-depth expertise in designing specialized image processing IC’s for performing machine vision tasks. As of 1998, it had started to focus their R&D to the emerging market of digital displays, including LCD projectors. The first scaler came to market in 1998, and since then, i-Chips has continuously developed new products on a regular basis, with increasing functionality and performance.
The i-Chips image processors are designed in a wide range of products worldwide, such as Projectors, Flat-Panel Displays, Video Wall controllers, Scalers/Switchers, Format Converters and Plasma Display Panels. In the U.S. and Europe, the main markets served are Broadcast, Pro A/V, Military, Medical, Video Conferencing, and Home Theater.
The i-Chips Image Processors are highly integrated semiconductors that combine multiple functions such as de-interlacing, image scaling, frame rate conversion and OSD (On-Screen Display). Their architecture is highly flexible supporting any custom or standard video format. Customers can easily adapt them to their requirement, or simply use them to process standard formats such as SD and HD. Products are available to process in full 12 bit internal accuracy and up to 1080p (Full-HD) resolution. The i-Chips products provide excellent image quality, and are very price competitive. Daitron offers Evaluation Boards to allow engineers to assess the performance of the i-Chips devices.
